SEI Investment Campus in Oaks, PA
Advanced GeoServices staff designed corporate plaza areas as well as planting and landscape treatments including renovation of an existing pond. This site offers a strong example of the integration of landscape architecture and engineering in a single design process. Site elements such as buildings, parking, pedestrian circulation, grading, storm water management, and planting work in harmony to create a landscape that is aesthetically pleasing and functional. The SEI project has been published in various design magazines and has won the Montgomery County Planning Commission 1997 Outstanding Site Design Award.
Valley Forge Distribution Center in Valley Forge, PA
Advanced GeoServices provided civil engineering, survey and landscape architectural services for the retrofitting of an 800,000 SF warehouse facility in Upper Providence Township, Montgomery County and the development of a new 57,000 SF office/warehouse facility on the 60-acre parcel.
QVC Studio in Chester County, PA
The project proposed changing warehouse space in an existing multi-purpose building to office space. The change required additional parking which could only be accommodated in an area that was somewhat remote from the building. Advanced GeoServices staff provided land planning and landscape architectural services for alterations to the QVC site. The prevailing concept for the site design was to provide a safe, convenient and aesthetic pedestrian route from the parking lot to the building. This was accomplished using a strategically placed path, enhancing the route with plantings and lighting, and installing landscape barriers (planting and fencing) to control pedestrian movement and create a newly landscaped entrance to the buildings.
King of Prussia Mall Expansion and Stream Enclosure in King of Prussia, PA
The expansion of the King of Prussia Mall included three new department stores, mall specialty shops, and two large parking structures. Substantial site engineering and traffic problems were resolved with cost effective designs. One of the major design challenges was sequencing the construction while maintaining traffic patterns and building access during construction.
A 750-foot long extension of the existing Abrams Run stream enclosure was needed for additional parking as part of the overall redevelopment and expansion of the King of Prussia Plaza Shopping Mall in Upper Merion Township. Engineering services included surveying; selection of the enclosure system; hydrologic and hydraulic analysis to design the waterway opening; detailing a hydraulically suitable, practical transition to the existing downstream enclosure; State DEP permitting; monitoring project costs to ensure conformance with the available budget; and construction services.
Filbert Street Garage/Store Streetscape in Philadelphia, PA
Three abandoned buildings and an old at-grade parking lot were turned into a new 10 story parking garage along with street level retail stores. The Filbert Street Garage/Store project involved the redevelopment of the streetscape of 15th Street, 16th Street, and Filbert Street surrounding the project. The Filbert Street Garage provided a much needed parking facility, restaurant, and storefront space in close proximity to the PA Convention Center and the Marriott Hotel. Civil engineering services included coordination of utility connectors to the existing utilities for the new facility. Advanced GeoServices staff prepared the very complicated grading between the existing city street and the new first floor.
DeKalb Plaza in Montgomery County, PA
DeKalb Plaza is a 110,000 s.f. shopping center located on a 15 acre site in Upper Merion Township. The development consists of three retail buildings, associated parking facilities, and highway improvements to Route 202 (DeKalb Pike). Design services included establishing overall grading, parking and circulation layout; designing stormwater management and conveyance facilities, wastewater collection system, water distribution and metering facilities; highway widening with dedicated left turn lanes and modified signalization facilities; coordinating the public utility service installations; and consultation and expert testimony at public hearings for the purpose of obtaining zoning approvals.
Wachovia Center Expansion in Philadelphia, PA
In 1996 Comcast-Spectacor to needed the Wachovia Center to accommodate a television studio and restaurant facilities. In 2004 they needed to further expand the facility to provide additional office space and a dining facility. In 1996 Advanced GeoServices’ staff provided full engineering services to Comcast-Spectacor and Hooper Shiles Architects for the expansion of the CoreStates Center, which was renamed to the Wachovia Sports Center. This expansion provided space for the newly created Comcast Sportsnet television studio and restaurant facilities. Again in 2004, Advanced GeoServices’ staff provided survey and civil engineering services for the expansion to the northern section of the existing facility. Working with Comcast-Spectacor and DPK&A Architects. The expansion created 60,000 SF of office space and a 9,000 sf dining facility. Challenges included working within the existing site features and utilites, coordinating the demolition of exisitng site features and infrastructure, grading, parking, ADA conformance, budget and scheduling.
