Advanced GeoServices Corp. (AGC), a Montrose Environmental Group company, will be participating in the Brownfield Coalition of the Northeast’s (BCONE)) Annual Northeast Sustainable Communities Workshop (NSCW) on June 4, 2019 at the New Jersey Institute of Technology in Newark, NJ. AGC’s Rick Shoyer, LSRP will be moderating a session titled, “Emerging Contaminants & Brownfield Redevelopment: Is it Possible?” and will be joined by panelists Meaghan Colligan, Esq. Holland & Knight; Heather Boyd, Great American Insurance Group, Environmental Division; and Tom Ames, Horsham Land Redevelopment Authority (HLRA). They will explore how PFAS affects brownfield redevelopment. Rick was an instrumental part of coordinating this event and has worked tirelessly to make this event a success.
NSCW will be a day full of learning opportunities with continuing education credits available on topics including: brownfields in the educational system to promote environmental justice; lessons learned from environmental project failures; expediting vapor intrusion assessment and mitigation; issues to be aware of when using fill during brownfield redevelopment; how Opportunity Zones will actually work; and risks of resilience and sea level rise in waterfront Opportunity Zones. The Plenary Session “Hotter Than Hot Topics” will discuss the latest trends in the industry.
This year we will have a new feature called “Lightning Talks”, where presenters have 5 minutes to showcase their topic. There will be 4 Lightning Talks on various topics, including how NYC is leveraging their updated environmental mapping application to help developers identify sites to be redeveloped; using risk-based information to inform engineering design and asset management; applying front-end metrics to sustainability in development; and leveraging the power of advocacy to strengthen DC’s Climate Ready Plan. We are also excited to have our keynote speaker, Jason Bram of the Federal Reserve Bank, discuss economic trends in the regional economy.
