Advanced GeoServices was part of the team that planned, designed and constructed the new three-story Anna T. Jeanes Building for The Hickman Friends Senior Community of West Chester that was recently featured in the Daily Local newspaper. Advanced GeoServices’ Barry Stingel, Landscape Architect and Senior Project Consultant, is the project manager for the site planning and civil engineering portion of the project.
According to our previous article on this project, “The new building will replace the older Sharpless Hall building located on the same site. This venerable structure, which is actually a pair of buildings joined together, has been a home for many of the community’s seniors but has become obsolete from a programmatic and care giving perspective. Therefore it was time to replace it with a new structure having updated amenities and modern building systems. The new building, designed by Lenhardt-Rogers Architects, will provide 74 living units that nearly triples the capacity of the old Sharpless Hall building. The first floor of the new facility will be devoted to dementia care, something The Hickman previously did not have the facilities to provide. “
For our AGC Site Design Team this was a challenging project due to the need to plan for the much larger Anna T. Jeanes Building being on the site of the smaller building that was replaced, and doing that within the established campus of the West Chester Friends Meeting. Adding to the challenge of this redevelopment was designing the stormwater collection and management systems for conformance to all current stormwater quality and quantity requirements.
